Center of Prayer Missionary Church – San Jeronimo, Cusco – Andes Mountains
San Jeronimo, once a quiet farm village on the outskirts of the city, is now considered part of the bustling city of Cusco. Many of San Jeronimo’s inhabitants speak Quechua, the native language of the Inca. Religiosity and superstitions are deeply rooted in their culture and history, and “cultural Catholicism” – following rituals without having a deeper understanding of the meaning or a personal relationship with Jesus – is a common barrier to sharing the Gospel. The Center of Prayer Missionary Church is ministering to the Spanish and Quechua-speaking communities both in San Jeronimo and in remote, unreached villages scattered in the Andes mountains. |
